About Doors & Drawers

Our Company History

Doors & Drawers was founded in Middlebury, Indiana in 1978 by Mark and Kim Botts. The new company was based on refacing cabinets, a process pioneered by the Botts'.

Early on, the Botts' recognized that doors were the hardest part of cabinet making. Full cabinet manufacture was an easy step, and custom cabinets have been a part of the Doors & Drawers product line almost from the beginning. The Doors & Drawers factory was moved to Goshen and now provides refacing materials and custom cabinets for dealers across the U.S.

Doors & Drawers of Fort Wayne was opened in 1983 and has installed approximately 2,500 kitchens over the last 20 years. There have been at least 15 competitors enter and leave the business in that period.

In 2001, Doors & Drawers of Fort Wayne was bought by Bob & Cheryl Ellis. The Ellis' recognized that growth in the kitchen & bath industry requires a full service approach. The countertop side of the business was the focus of expansion in 2002. Doors & Drawers is now a Corian solid surface Authorized Retailer and has expanded the product line to include cultured marble, most solid surface materials, and granite.

The Ellis' recognized that more skill is required to reface a kitchen than to install a new one. Unique cabinet designs and unique constructions must be dealt with rather than replaced. So in 2003, Doors & Drawers has been using that skill to support expansion into stock cabinetry. The Timberlake line of stock and semi-custom cabinetry was added in May, 2003, and has been very popular in the Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio market.

The guiding principle of our business is to provide a product lineup that delivers the highest quality at each price point. We searched for six months to find the stock cabinet manufacturer that allowed us to meet that goal. Our relationship with Timberlake cabinets allows us to provide stock and semi-custom cabinets at prices below the major large stores. Our Doors & Drawers custom cabinets compare favorably on both price and quality with the finest brands.
